By using the One Step app, you agree to these terms. We've kept the language plain on purpose.
These terms are an agreement between you and Justin Mayeur, doing business as One Step Collective ("we," "us," "our"), based in Washington State, United States. The app, its name, and its content are owned by One Step Collective.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the app. If you're under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian is aware of your use and agrees to these terms on your behalf where required by law.
One Step is a private fitness competition app. It reads activity data from Apple HealthKit, calculates fitness points using a handicap-adjusted scoring system, and lets you compete with people you invite to private challenges. The app does not coach you, prescribe workouts, or give medical or dietary advice.
One Step is actively developed and improved over time. We may add, change, or refine features and the handicap-adjusted scoring system as the app evolves; scoring formulas may occasionally be recalculated as we improve fairness and accuracy. We aim to keep the service reliable and your data intact, though like any software we can't guarantee uninterrupted, error-free operation (see Section 13). We'll let you know about significant changes as described in these terms.
One Step offers an optional paid subscription, One Step Pro, with the following terms:
One Step Pro unlocks additional features (such as Teams, Workout Zone Breakdown, multiple simultaneous challenges, expanded health metrics, and the Calibration Dashboard). Core features remain available without a subscription.
When using the app, you agree not to:
The app requires Apple HealthKit access to function. By using the app, you agree to grant the HealthKit permissions the app requests at install. The app reads health data only — it does not write to HealthKit. See our Privacy Policy for details on what is read and how it's processed.
Challenges are private and invite-only. When you join a challenge, other participants can see your daily scores, your name, and any reactions you send. Don't join challenges with people you wouldn't want to share that information with.
You're responsible for the conduct of people you invite to your own challenges via invite codes.
The app, its design, code, branding, and all original content are owned by One Step Collective. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the app or its content without written permission. The handicap-adjusted scoring methodology and the structure of the app are part of this protected work.
You retain ownership of any content you create through the app (such as challenge names you choose). By using the app, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display that content as needed to operate the service.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the app at any time if you violate these terms, attempt to game the scoring system, or use the app in a way that harms other users. You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it; to delete your data, see Section 5.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We don't warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that scoring will be perfectly accurate.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, One Step Collective and Justin Mayeur are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim arising out of these terms or your use of the app will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless One Step Collective and Justin Mayeur from any claim, demand, or damages arising from your violation of these terms, your misuse of the app, or your violation of any third party's rights.
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the app will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will remain in full effect.
